Kurukshetra (The Holy Place)

Kurukshetra is a city in the state of Haryana, India. It is also known as Dharmakshetra ("Holy Place"). It is also known as the "Land of Bhagwad Gita". Kurukshetra lies at distance of 160 km from New Delhi and about 80 km from Chandigarh - city with the nearest airport. Kurukshetra has been celebrating Gita Jayanti for decades. Kurukshetra University

The Kurukshetra University was established in 1956 as a unitary residential university and its foundation stone was laid by late Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Since then the university has made a steady progress to acquire a status of a premiere institution of learning. It is now a multi-faculty university with as many as 40 teaching departments offering various courses in Science, Engineering, Arts, Languages and Humanities. The university has an aesthetically designed and beautifully laid out campus in order to provide necessary impetus to pursue academic activities. Read more......


Faculty of Science is headed by Dean, Sciences and is among the largest of all three faculties. It consists of TEN departments namely: Department of Chemistry, Department of Computer Science & Applications, Department of Electronic Science, Department of Geography, Department of Geology, Department of Geophysics, Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics, Department of Statistics & O.R. and Department of Instrumentation. Faculty of Life Sciences headed by Dean, Life Sciences consists of SEVEN departments namely: Department of Botany, Department of Zoology, Department of BioChemistry, Department of Biotechnology, Department of Microbiology, Department of Home Science and Institute of Environmental Studies. Faculty of Engineering and Technology consists of the lone engineering Institute run by university i.e. University Institute of Engineering and Technology.
